Torya is a current MA Acting student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Previously, she gained an HND in Acting and Performance from Motherwell College, and has been working steadily in both theatre and film, as well as running her own successful production company.
Roles in training so far have included Teiresias in “Oedipus Rex” and Olga in “Three Sisters”, and she is currently working on the development of a piece of new writing with Rob Drummond.
Stage roles have included the female characters in a Scottish tour of “Two”, Bernadette in a sell-out run of “Stags and Hens” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Desdemona in “Othello” and most recently the role of Anna in “Closer”. She has worked with Mischief La Bas, Conflux and Hopscotch Theatre Company, and has performed at the Tron Theatre and The Arches in Glasgow.
Torya has worked extensively in TIE and children’s theatre, playing characters as diverse as a pirate, a pair of Cockney squirrels and a school bully. She is a qualified nursery nurse, and has a special interest in theatre for young audiences.
Film work has included a music video for country singer Janey Kirk, the lead role in a national advert for Debt Advisory Centre Scotland, People’s Postcode Lottery and Mentos chewing gum commercials for STV, and a wide variety of lead roles in short films.
